Bhangra Symphonica
A spectacular evening of music and dance as East meets West, Bhangra meets Classical
A thrilling musical adventure, from the Punjab to Peterborough, via Ragley and the World!
Bhangra Rock band, Kissmet and one of the UK’s top chamber orchestras, Orchestra of the Swan, join forces to present a breathtaking fusion of music and dance, story-telling and mesmerising spirituality; from the irresistible energy of Bhangra beats and Western Rock, to the meditative calm of devotional songs, all underpinned by an exquisite soundscape of classical strings.
Kissmet have performed all over the world and from Glastonbury to Womad, sharing stages with Kaiser Chiefs, Duffy, Nitin Sawhney, and Asian Dub Foundation, among many others. Founded by Ron and Buzz Singh, Kissmet’s unique sound reflects the brothers’ experience of growing up in multicultural Britain, listening to everything from classical Hindi and Punjabi music, to The Clash and Led Zeppelin.
For this stunning collaboration, Kissmet perform with some of the UK’s finest classical musicians. Midlands-based Orchestra of the Swan love crossing genres and mixing styles, from Bach to Bowie and Rameau to Radiohead. As Ron Singh says: ‘What’s most important is the incredible vibe and energy that can be generated by people of all faiths, backgrounds, colours, gender and culture coming together to create something powerfully positive, infectious and memorable.’
Bhangra Symphonica is a wonderful, interactive experience, with music, dancing, story-telling, colour and light, set against the spectacular backdrop of Ragley Hall.
